Every year since 2013, my former roommate and myself have watched the Super Bowl together.

Oddly enough, I can’t remember ever watching it with him when we lived together. We try to alternate between each other’s homes. The tradition has spanned from Pasadena to Lake Elsinore and the past few years here in Los Angeles. Last year was a particular special Super Bowl for myself, as I’ve been a huge Philadelphia Eagles fan my entire life and it was an emotional joy to watch them beat the New England Patriots. His year was 2014 when the Seattle Seahawks brought home the Lombardi Trophy.

Today we gather to watch the game again. We’re both not really fans of either team in the Super Bowl, but I’m leaning towards the Rams. He wishes that both teams finish 0-1-0 by the game.

I told him that doesn’t make sense.

He still said it’s his wish.

I can’t argue with that.

Here’s to tradition.
